Community Profiles - Center Harbor

Center HarborCenter HarborCenter Harbor, a quaint lakeside village on the north end of Lake Winnipesaukee, was originally part of Moultonboro and was incorporated in 1797. Center Harbor provided much of the scenery for "On Golden Pond" and inspired poetry by John Greenleaf Whittier. Many feel that "Center" is a misspelling of the name of the first settler, Moses Senter. Senter’s Marketplace, a large marketplace in town, has been named for him. Center Harbor is the winter home of the M/S Mount Washington boat, and is a regular stop on the summer cruises.
